Approved by the Royal Government on 30th March 2021, the Master Plan for Siem Reap tourism development (225 p., with a preface by then Prime Minister HE Hun Sen) has recommendations "to ensure maximum socio-economic benefits from tourism with the historical Angkor heritage site, city with Siem Reap river, the Tonle Sap Lake region, Phnom Kulen National Park, and rural tourist destinations", stressing that "Siem Reap must be a quality tourism destination."
